B is for Bluebird

Eastern Bluebird

A stunning, male Eastern Bluebird, to be exact!

As our days warm, these native songbirds are making their transition from eating seeds and berries over the winter and back to consuming countless insects that would otherwise pester our human neighbors.

Thanks to one of our most loyal readers, Nancy, for this fabulous photo from her yard in our northern Virginia area.

  1. Awesome! One of my favorite people in the whole world dedicates time to these beauties. He builds bluebird houses that have predator baffling to keep them safe and gives lectures throughout the year. Unfortunately, the box he gifted me never hosted any bluebirds because they apparently don’t like our particular habitat. But I have seen numerous finches use the box over the years. Be well!

  2. Love your bluebird pic! And your blog is really cute. I miss squirrels (haven’t seen them regularly since I moved to Hawaii more than 15 years ago).

Drop us a nut to find!
