J is for Junco

All winter long Hickory and I competed with these birds–the Slate-colored Juncos–for seed on some of our favorite decks.

Slate-colored Junco, eating hulled sunflower seeds!

We’re posting them in the A to Z Challenge because we are soooo thankful they have returned to their more northern habitats.

  1. Nice little birds, and there are always lots of them here for the winter in southern PA. They are real competition for food here as well. I’m always glad to see the robins come, tho they were a little early this year, and weren’t expecting the late winter conditions in the winter that wouldn’t go away.

Drop us a nut to find!
