B is for Blue-eyed Grass

One of Miz Flora’s favorite spring flowers is Blue-eyed Grass, Sisyrinchium angustifolium, though it’s rather obscure.

Stout Blue-eyed Grass flower

It looks like grass, so I guess many humans mow it down or pull it out. Check out those stems if yo aren’t certain.

See the nodes? ( I think they are called) The leaves are rather flat also.

  1. Blue eyed grass is one of my favorite wildflowers. ❤
They grow all across the continent even into northern Canada. They are a tiny iris.

  2. Beautiful photos of nature. This is my first time learning about blue-eyed grass. Thanks Nutmeg of Reston, Virginia!

    Best wishes

  3. It’s wonderful being able to spot a pretty small flower that most would often consider as weed. Whenever I go hiking/walking on vacation trips, I always keep my eyes open for flowers like this and I make sure i snap a photo for souvenir 🙂

Drop us a nut to find!
