One of Nature’s Mysteries to Solve

Hey and Wow. After seeing Coney’s photos of his favorite trees downed in the flood, Nutmeg and I are making a point of enjoying our favorite tree. I’m giving you a fair shot at guessing its species with this second photo.

Mystery #76

Post your guesses, but in the meantime, how about you human readers? Do you have a favorite tree?

  1. That’s a lovely old white oak tree. I’ve seen those branches, which are tight together, save a squirrel from a red tailed hawk once, in a snow storm. The hawk couldn’t get in as the squirrel ran around the tree, and the hawk eventually gave up and moved on after maybe an hour. Oaks are my favorite, cos they’re beautiful, sturdy trees, they are good places for squirrels to nest due to the formation of the branches out of the trunk, and the acorns are staples for squirrels and chipmunks.

Drop us a nut to find!
