We had a correct guess today! This bright red berry is the fruit of the Kousa Dogwood, Cornus kousa. Though not native to the United States, the Kousa Dogwood is commonly found in our neighborhoods.
It’s related to our native dogwood and not susceptible to anthracnose fungus, like Flowering Dogwood is, so it’s actually more commonly seen these days.
