One of Nature’s Mysteries to Solve

Hey there!

After a week of flowers, I’ve got a mystery to solve involving what comes after all those flowers we saw this week.

Mystery #72

Be back with you later for the answer!

We had a correct guess today! This bright red berry is the fruit of the Kousa Dogwood, Cornus kousa. Though not native to the United States, the Kousa Dogwood is commonly found in our neighborhoods.

Kousa Dogwood

It’s related to our native dogwood and not susceptible to anthracnose fungus, like Flowering Dogwood is, so it’s actually more commonly seen these days.
