One of Nature’s Mysteries to Solve

And the June 30th mystery of the day answers (Please find the photos below!) are:

Photo #1: Virginia Creeper – Five leaflets to a leaf, right?

Photo #2: Poison Ivy – Three leaflets to a leaf.

Photo #3: Poison Ivy

Photo #4: The brighter leaves are Poison Ivy, the darker are Virginia Creeper. Please note, the leaves just happen to look this way in this photo! It’s not always the case in real life.

Photo #6: Poison Ivy in the middle, Virginia Creeper lower

Have fun out there and don’t get poison ivy!

  1. couldn’t see any photos but the squirrels are really cute, virginia creepers are one of my favorite wild vine, I have tons of the stuff, poison ivy three leaves and alot shinier then the creeper, my creepers had alot of freezer burn when we had a freeze during late april into may. yikes, they looked horrible but now look wonderful.

    • Roberta, You seem to know what each vine looks like, including the shinier leaves! But I wanted to let you know the photos were below the answers, in a post I made first thing Sunday morning. I hope readers don’t get too confused I put them in a separate post, and hope this clears that up.
      Thanks for leaping by!
