Leaf Nests Revisited

Hey, it’s Hickory reporting today. Nutmeg is at work on her leaf nest, again. Her Maple tree one weakened during the snow and rain, and though there wasn’t much wind, it was enough to shake her location at the edge of the branches. Mine, I am happy to report, suffered no damage up against the trunk of the Metasequoia.

So here is her new location.

See it, right behind my Metasequoia?

Nutmeg's Jan 2013 nest

As you can see, that stubborn squirrel still has a lot to learn. Her nest is closer to a main trunk, but it’s a split trunk. She’s lower down, but still within sight of my tree. I’ll be keeping an eye on her. That loose mass doesn’t look to stable to my squirrel eyes.
