Woolly Bear Report

Found another one this week, a striped one–finally! The little guy was crossing a patch of gravel out in plain view.

What do you think? I count four and a half segments of brown. Is that four and a half months of mild weather? That’s all of winter, so I better recheck this er, folktale with Miz Flora.

    • Oh, Nancy, you’re right I didn’t directly mention the name. This is the Woolly Bear Caterpillar, one of the few insects that is more famous in its caterpillar stage than its moth stage. After it pupates, it will become an Isabella Tiger Moth. I’m getting with Miz Flora on the folktale for telling early next week.

Drop us a nut to find!
